Why the Eric Wang Foundation exists, and the values that guide its work.
Why We Began
The Eric Wang Foundation began with a series of personal visits to Uganda. Meeting families and communities directly shaped a clear sense of what kind of support would be most meaningful — practical, respectful, and rooted in real relationships.

Why Uganda
Uganda is home to a number of African-Chinese children born to local mothers and Chinese migrant or construction workers. Many of these children have grown up without consistent contact or support from their fathers, who often return to China or move on to new projects once their work concludes. The Eric Wang Foundation focuses on Uganda because this is where these specific needs were identified, and where the foundation can build direct, trusted relationships with families and local partners.

Many children grow up with limited contact or support from a parent, which can affect stability and emotional well-being.
Barriers to Education
Without steady family support, basic needs like school fees, supplies, and healthcare can become difficult to access consistently.

Many children face questions about identity and heritage, and benefit from support that helps them feel seen, valued, and connected.

The foundation works directly with local leaders and partners in Uganda, building trusted relationships that help the foundation reach the families and children who need it most.
